On January 13, 2024, during a scheduled event in Ilagan City, within the Isabela province, fate led us to meet Jonalyn, a 15-year-old girl battling an autoimmune disorder. Our visit to Jonalyn’s home revealed the harsh reality of her declining health as she lay next to her mother. The sight of their struggle was poignant, as they are part of the city’s lower-income communities, struggling to afford the medical treatments recommended by their physician. It was Theresa, a dedicated local government worker, who guided us to Jonalyn’s doorstep. Her involvement underscored the gravity of our commitment to societal welfare.
